We humans have a tendency for things to look less severe on the inside to us than they do on the outside to others. Think you might have an anger management problem? Take this simple test to find out. Answer “yes” to the questions you think describe you and “no” to those which don’t. Answering “yes’ to 5 or more of these questions may indicate that an anger management class might be helpful to you.

2. Do people describe you as two different people – a “Dr. Jeckyl” when calm and a “Mr Hyde when angered?

7. Most of my problems have to do with the way other people act.

8. I think other people are too sensitive.

How did you do?  Another way to look at this test is to determine the severity and frequency with which you do some of the things you answered “yes” to. For example, you may have had only three “yeses” but you do them several times a week. That may also suggest the need for an anger management class.

Today we are living in a really dangerous world where such virtues as trust and respect has been broken. It appears that pretty much everybody has something that they are trying to hide, that they have a ‘deep dark secret’. Just when you start to fall head over heels in love with someone, forge a friendship or form a business partnership, you find out something about that person that fully shatters your confidence.

Installing anti-virus programs such as Avast or McAfee can protect your computer, but you should also use a product dedicated to anti-spyware and anti-adware.  Generally , you need at least two defences these days, due to the large amount of Malware that  is floating around  .

There are  several   steps to protect your computer from Spyware, but generally it is just common sense. How do Stun Guns Work?

A stun gun is an electrical self defense device that uses high voltage to  stop an attacker. Touching a person with the prongs on the stun gun rapidly immobilizes the attacker. However, because the amperage is very low, no serious or permanent injury is inflicted.

The stun is designed to key into the nervous system. It dumps its energy into the muscular tissueat a high pulse frequency that makes the muscles work very quickly, but not efficiently. This rapid work cycle depletes blood sugar by converting it to lactic acid all in just seconds. The resulting energy loss makes it grueling to move and function. At the same time, the tiny neurological impulses that travel throughout the body to direct muscle movement are interrupted. This causes disorientation and loss of balance which leaves the attacker in a submissive and confused condition for several minutes.  Still, there is no significant effect on the heart and other organs.

As a general rule, a half second contact can repel and startle the attacker, with the individual feeling some pain and muscle contraction. One to two seconds can cause muscle spasms and a dazed mental state. Over three seconds can cause loss of balance and muscle control, mental confusion and disorientation. Please realize that 3 seconds is quite a long time when in a physical struggle.  Every person is different and will react differently to the effects of a stun gun. What may put one person down in 3 seconds could take 5 seconds on another person.

The electrical shock that emits from the stun gun will not pass from the individual being stunned to the individual  doing the stunning. The effect is localized only in the affected area and does not pass through the body. Even if either you or the attacker is standing in water or are wet, you will not be shocked. 

As much as  anything else, home security is all about good habits.   Do you ever forget to check the locks on your windows and doors ? What about locking up the garage, tool shed and outbuildings ?     * If ever you spot something that doesn’t seem right in your neighborhood – ask about it.

    * Use only your last name and initials on a mailbox , in the phone directory and on your building directory .  This is most important if you’re a woman. And if you live alone, don’t advertise it .

    * Always keep your doors and windows locked .

    * Use a heavy duty safety chain, a one inch deadbolt and a wide angle door peephole

    * Remember don’t undo the safety chain when someone comes to your door until you decide to let them in.

    * When you move into a new home , get the locks changed .

    * If you lose your keys or your purse is stolen, change the locks.

    * Always check the identification of anyone you don’t know who is looking to get you to open your door and do it BEFORE you undo the security chain

    * Keep indoor and outdoor lights on.

    * Install security lighting and cameras to cover your your backyard and driveway and close to the doors . Pay attention to dark corners.

    * If you’re home looks like it has been broken into , stay outside .  Go to a neighbor and alert the police.

    * On the telephone , never tell anyone that you’re alone.

    * Don’t get on an elevator with someone even remotely suspicious .

    * Avoid the stairwell in your apartment if you’re alone .

    * If you’re going away , make arrangements for your home to look like someone is at home . Be certain that  you don’t have mail or newspappers piling up at your front door .

    * Ask your friends and neighbors to keep an eye on your house.

    * If you have children be sure to use a swimming pool alarm.

Should we really be concerned with privacy online?? Are there really legions of people spying on us and watching our every move. I really hope that this brief article will give you some knowledge of some of the issues in protecting your privacy online..

So who is likely to be spying on us and why?

 Well let’s make it perfectly clear, crime on the internet is big, very big , the totals are never going to be exact as we simply don’t have a record but you’d be safe to assume it’s going to be counted in billions of dollars world wide. Internet crime, stealing from ordinary people can be very rewarding with little risk.. You can see the attraction to the criminal fraternity big rewards, safe and very low risk – cyber crime pays !

So we know that gangs will routinely target the average internet surfer , furthermore many will be extremely careful in how they steal from you,  but remember there are literally endless ways to steal your information and ultimately your money. For instance I have seen a sealed copy of windows XP which looked 100% legitimate bought from Eastern Europe, it was shrink wrapped, had a licence, manual included but it had an extra bonus. The CD contained a version of Windows XP with spyware and trojans already installed , as soon as you used this version of XP your details, accounts and passwords would be passed out to a remote site on the internet.

As you lock your doors and windows at home, some of us do this online.. I want my privacy protected because online I pay bills, order goods, do my banking and many other activities which involve my financial and personal details. Do I want these details logged on servers, routers and at my ISP – well no not really.

You see it’s actually quite easy to steal peoples details online  , a little harder to steal your money but not much .  It’s certainly the only way a gang of cyber criminals in Rio De Janerio will be able to steal from you without you holidaying in Brazil. If you did discover your bank account has been raided like this, what could you do?  If it does happen all you are able to do really is try and get your money back from the bank or card provider, it will be extremely unlikely the thief will be caught

Recently the college where I teach had an individual that was sneaking into the dorms and pulling back the shower curtains to peek at the girls that were showering. This individual was not a student, was eventually caught and brings to mind the tips in the Preventive Measures guide: you need to be aware of what is going on around your campus. Don’t let people prop open building doors “just for a minute” to let in friends. That’s how creeps like the shower peeper (or worse) get in. Who knows how far this criminal would’ve taken his act. Did it just start with staring at girls on campus? Was he targeting certain girls? Was he planning to do more than peek? Remember, your safety is up to you – don’t rely solely on campus security policies to protect yourself. Take action.
